Therapeutic Approach

They/Them/Theirs

RP, RCAT, DTATI, HBA

Hello, My name is Ashtyn (they/them). I am a Registered Psychotherapist & Art Therapist. My practice is supported by several years of experience supporting individuals recovering from the impacts of trauma, and folks belonging to the LGBTQ community. My work is grounded in a trauma-informed, collaborative, intersectional, strengths based, holistic approach.

I work with adults & youth (11+), incorporating therapeutic modalities that support the body & mind, including: Art Therapy, IFS/Parts Work, Attachment Based Therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (body based therapy) & Mindfulness. You may choose which techniques you would like to integrate in sessions. Each persons needs are unique, which is why I am flexible in my approach to meet you where you are at :)

My areas of specialization are helping individuals manage/process the impacts of trauma, PTSD/CPTSD, Chronic Illness/Pain, supporting people apart of the LGBTQIA+ community & Neurodivergent folks (ADHD/ASD).

I also work with Anxiety, Depression, Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), Grief/loss, Chronic Fatigue & Burnout, Stress & Anger Management, Addiction, Self-harm, Perfectionism, Creative Blocks, Relationship Issues, & Life Transitions.

In our work together there will be a balance between developing coping skills to utilize in your daily life, such as self-regulation, boundary setting, self-compassion, etc., as well as space for self-exploration to help better understand and organize your past and current life experiences.

Also, I make sure there is enough room for embodied practice and integration in sessions along with verbal processing. This may include creative practices like art making, poetry, writing, somatic or mindfulness exercises, which clients can use outside of the session for further growth as well. I believe it is important to work collaboratively, and at a pace that does not overwhelm the nervous system, so I will ask for feedback from you throughout the therapy process so I can make any necessary adjustments along the way.
